Experience the sophisticated elegance of Pym-Rae Tesseron Estate 2017, the second vintage from the Tesseron family’s Napa Valley venture on Mount Veeder. Acquired in 2016 from Robin Williams’ estate and named for his children’s middle names (Pym and Rae), this biodynamic, Demeter-certified wine is crafted by Alfred Tesseron, of Château Pontet-Canet fame, with oenologist Michel Rolland. From 18.53 acres at 1,500 feet elevation, this blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot is hand-harvested, hand-destemmed, and dry-farmed, vinified in custom concrete vats, and aged 18 months in 55% new French oak and 45% concrete tanks.
The 2017 vintage, shaped by a challenging year with a wet winter and Labor Day heat spike, delivers a deep garnet-purple color and bold aromas of black cherries, mulberries, plum preserves, and dark chocolate, with exotic notes of Indian spices, sandalwood, and cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is rich with seductive black fruit, framed by firm yet plush tannins and vibrant tension, finishing long and fragrant. Only ~1,500 cases were produced, making this a rare collector’s gem, available in an optional 3-bottle wooden case (OWC). Enjoy now with decanting or cellar through 2040+.
