About Shede Spirits
Baijiu, which is also known as Shaojiu, is a colourless Chinese liquor, that typically has an ABV between 35% and 60% and can be traced back to the Han and Tang Dynasties.
Baijiu is similar to wine, in where each Baijiu has its own distinctive characteristics, flavour and aromas. It is usually made from fermented Sorghum, although other grains maybe used in the fermentation process. Other styles of Baijiu have been known to use, rice, glutinous rice, wheat, barley, millet or Adlay millet (Job’s Tears). The starter culture to make Baijiu is usually wheat grain or steamed rice.
Baijiu is the national spirit and drink of China. It is not to be confused with Japanese Shochu or Korean soju although one can argue this when you have had too much!
