Acquired in 2016 from the late Robin Williams’ estate, this Mount Veeder vineyard, named for Williams’ children (Pym and Rae), spans 18.53 acres at 1,800 feet elevation. Crafted under the guidance of oenologist Michel Rolland, this biodynamic, Demeter-certified wine blends 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc, vinified in small concrete vats and aged 16 months in 70% new French oak and 30% concrete tanks.
The 2016 vintage, a stellar year in Napa, unveils a deep garnet-purple hue with fragrant notes of candied violets, black tea, damp soil, and red and black currants, layered with cigar box and camphor. The full-bodied palate is both opulent and refined, with ripe, silt-like tannins supporting black cherry, warm blackberry, and chocolate-walnut flavors, finishing long and perfumed. Hand-picked, hand-destemmed, and dry-farmed, this wine reflects the Tesserons’ reverence for terroir and precision.
