    France’s Great Wine Regions

France’s wine landscape is defined by distinct regions, climates and grape varieties. Bordeaux in the southwest is renowned for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blends, particularly from Médoc and Saint-Émilion. Burgundy in eastern France is celebrated for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune producing some of the country’s most distinctive wines. The Rhône Valley offers powerful Syrah in the north and Grenache-led blends in the south, while Champagne in northeastern France is synonymous with traditional-method sparkling wine. From Alsace in the east to the Loire Valley in the northwest, each region expresses a distinctive French wine style.
